That is neat ive never heard of a 410. A shame it works out that way, i would assume the 360 rods are longer. Longer rods make for better torque not sure what the difference will actually yeild tho.
The FE 352 and 360 engines do use a longer, but thinner rod.
So with the longer rod and shorter stroke of the 360 the piston is different than a 390.
However, the compression height is equal to a 410 piston and many 360 engines use a 410 piston. You'll see it sometimes in original 360 engines a "410" stamp on the piston head.
When I bought this truck the previous owner told me when he last rebuilt it he put in a 390 crank and pistons, thus making it a 390 (bore was the same), I'd like to take it up to 410 with the 428 crank if I can, just wondering if anyone has made this change and what I would need to do.
390 truck pistons are the same as 410 pistons (1.66" comp. height) so if you have the low comp. height 390 truck pistons all you need is the 428 crank.
Depends on how crazy you want to get with your build?!? I have a 418FE. 390 bored .040 with a 428 crank(internal balance) And 428 rods 390 pistons. Had the pistons tops shaved down .064" were they come about .004" over the deck of the block. Or you can use the low compression truck pistons either one will work. Good luck on it. I have mine in '66 F100 Shortbed.
