Need Vent Windows !!!
Greetings from Germany !!!
I have no vent windows on my 54 F100. Everything is missing (i.e. frame, glass, ...). When I bought the truck I had solid glass fitted with lotsa lotsa silicone.
I just saw vent windows for 53-55 being sold on ebay, but did not go for them. One side went for about $30 and the other side went for about $35. They were complete, but not perfect.
Wonder if this is a good price even so I guess the glass had to be replaced. Any thoughts ?
Anyone has a pair which he does not need anymore because of going for one-piece or off a parts truck the back yard ??? What would be a fair price ?

In my book that was a good price. The latches themselves are about 80 bucks a pair. So getting the whole thing is okay at that price. The glass you can works with. I went to a glass shop and spoke to the guys in the back and they cut me a deal, I avoided the front desk. Sorry can't help you with side vents, keep looking on ebay I'v seen a couple of them on ebay go for around 35.00.

That isn't too bad a price but I can beat it if you don't mind painting them. They aren't 100% complete but I could let them go for free. You will need at least one new latch and glass. They have glass but it looks bad. You are almost certain to need new glass if you buy used from any source. Glass is cheap here but it's no deal if they get broke in transit I guess. I may have another latch too but don't get your hopes up. I can order the parts to finish them up before I ship. Let me know.

'fenders, Kent ('fatford' on FTE - he e-mailed me off line) also has a few pairs at his other place. I understand that yours as well as the ones he has all need rework and/or new glass. That's fine. Would you help to get one set completed by having Kent ship you what is missing in your set ????
This is what I need in the end: set of frames, latch, ??? (rusty is fine, will sandblast and paint) plus all new rubber and glass.
I will certainly pay what it takes incl. shipping from Kent to you and then onwards to my buddies house in Illinois. From there I will have someone handcarry to Germany.
Can you estimate what you need and what the cost would be ?

I emailed Kent, we'll get some of his stuff up from TX and see what I can put together. Are you going to sand blast and paint them black or Autobahn orange no matter what we send you? I have one frame that may buff up nice still.
Let me know if you need any hardened fasteners while we are at it. They are about 80 cents a pound in certain sizes at the moment.
And yes I know it's early in US right now. Have to drive a big truck with a lousy heater and drag a cannon about 8 hours today. It's below zero now. Gonna be a great day!

I emailed Kent, we'll get some of his stuff up from TX and see what I can put together. Are you going to sand blast and paint them black or Autobahn orange no matter what we send you? I have one frame that may buff up nice still.

... poor you. I am sitting in my heated office.
If there's a way to make these shiny again, then I will do so. My divider bars is also shiny (cause it's new). If there's no way to make it look good again, then I will blast, primer and paint flat black. Prefered is shiny. Thanx for all your help !!!
I will get back to you re. the nuts&bolts. I do in fact still need the stuff for my x-members and have not yet bought the metric ones. I will measure everything up later today and e-mail you. Thanx.

Thanks, I went searching for avatars and didn't find any that suited me (since George already claimed Dilbert, my hero) so I made my own. This way, I can change the color of it as I get the body painted.

Speaking of vent windows.. and sorry to step on any posts here, but I need a drivers side vent window latch.
Had my 53 broken into and that's where they got in through, don't have a latch, all I need is something that'll lock that vent. If you have one lying around, be glad to buy/trade whatever.

Thanks for the offer, but after reading your posts for several months and reviewing your website, I think Dilbert fits you perfectly!!!
My only concern is, are you now my hero???
Anyway, it was kind of fun trying to make a 50 x 50 bitmap end up looking like something recognizable.

It sounds like you caught it early. It may still be treatable. Electric shock treatments may be required but I think it may be worth it before full scale idolization or even a desire to stalk George sets in. Good luck.
