So the intercooler would be a fan on an air box around the exh. gas BETWEEN the compressor and the intake?
OR
Would it B something using a liquid type radiator to cool the compressor heated gases?
Well, the cheaper more popular intercoolers used today are air to air units between the turbo and intake. Only a select few run liquid to air coolers, because they're more complicated and more expensive, even though they are more efficient. I don't like the idea of exposing the intake charge to any type of liquid, because if that type of cooler sprang a leak for whatever reason, you'd be forcing water into the engine, which would be a bad thing.
With the powerstroke intercooler on my truck, it will be mounted between the grill and radiator. It will no doubt reduce the radiator's efficiency somewhat, and I may actually have to get around to building a fan shroud after all. I'm thinking this thing will be worth a 25%-30% power increase and the haze of black smoke I currently get under full throttle will vanish.
I guess then I'll be looking at bigger injectors.
