I have a 95 F-150 inline 6 with EFI. The problem I have seems to be getting worse, but it has taken a long time (over a year) to get to the stage it is at. When I go to start it, in about 30%-40% of the cases, the engine will brefily fire(about 1 second), then die. After that I have to step on the accelator and pump to get it started which takes about a total of 15 seconds using several cranks. If I wait after the first inital start to try again, then it seems to have less of a problem getting going. The cap, rotor, plugs and wires are new and OEM. I was thinking the Idler Air Control Valve, but There are several things it could be and I do not want to just replace and see what works.
Have you pulled the codes? http://www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm
After you do, clear them and go for a test drive, then pull them again. It sounds more like a flooding problem - pumping the pedal while cranking an EFI just confuses the computer, but pushing it to the floor clears a flood.
I agree, get your codes clear them and then drive it around a bit (pick up some groceries or something) then pull your codes again, that should tell you just whats wrong.
I pulled the codes...nothing for the KOEO test(111), and the memory codes were incedental. The KOER test only gave me a 225 which is... Knock Sensor not detected during Dynamic Response Test KOER. That could have been because I did not "goose" it enough during the "goose" test.
