My buddy has a really clean '78 Longbed F100 2WD. He's been talking for quite some time about selling it, and buying a 4WD, but he's had the truck for over 16 years, and it was his first vehicle. So, now he's talking about just moving the body/engine/trans over to a 4WD frame. He's kinda looking for a project anyway, so I said great idea. I hate to see him part with this truck. I too have a lot of blood, sweat and tears in it.
So, the question becomes what years will frames interchange. I assume 67-72 will, but will 80-96 frames interchange. I'm pretty sure beds will bolt on no problem for all those years, but how about the cab, and core support?
I only ask, because it seems there are more later model longbed 4WD's in donor condition around here...
Thanks for the help. He just called about an hour or so ago. Looks like we're road tripping this weekend to pick up a '79. An unfinished project that needs very little if we use his '78 body/interior.
