I install the zero deck TMI piston for aussie head and my piston are now 0.06 over the deck. The block was deck just to straight up. Can i have problem with this ?

 

those are high up! not really, just check your piston to valve clearrance with some clay if you have a 0.100 clearance on the intake and 0.080 on the exhaust you are good to go!

hey do you know how much cc do your combustion chamber has, and how many ccs do your piston have? And what cam are you using,just to check your Compression tos ee where you stand on octane...

 

I never cc my heads but they are like 62cc. piston are 30cc, block .030 over. I use xe256 int.487 exh .493 duration 256 intake and 268 exhaust. int:22 btdc 54 abdc exh: 68 bbdc 20 atdc

 

O_o I underlooked something...if the pistons are 0.060 out and the head gasket is 0.045 you could be smashing your pistons agints your heads in the quench area... is your engine assembled already?

 

You should be having around 10.5:1 static and 9:1 dynamic which is too much, you should mill your pistons atleast by 0.030" or even the whole .060 if its possible, contact Tim about it...

 

The piston are in but the head are at the rebuild shop. The piston are .030 over. How much octan i will need to be able to run ? change cam will help ?

 

look into the piston clearance first, but you could retard your cam 4 degrees that will help you..

 

you can also look into some thicker head gaskets to give you some additional room.

 

how could the block be decked without doing a 4 corner installed piston mock-up?

 

sorry guys it was not 0.060 but 0.006 and i talk to tim about that and said the head gasket is 0.039 -0.006 over the deck=0.033 clearence. Tim said to not be closer than 0.020. He also said that should raise my compression a little bit. I hope i'm good with that.

 

Had the same issue with my 400, new 10.5:1 cr flat tops from TMI, were about 0.005-0.006 over the deck, my heads are 2V open chamber 78 cc.
I took a standard head gasket 0.039".

The engine has done it´s first 50 miles and no problems so far ...
Watch for the right fuel because of the little extra cr depending on your cam.

 

Just finish torking the heads. New stainless valves, springs, sceals, retainers and locks on aussie heads. I turn the crank 2 turn, so far so good. I'm in the process of installing screw in stud, a conversion kit from crane cams with roller rocker 1.7:1.

 

It should be a screamer. I am glad you got the head to piston question figured out before going further.

 

I was .006 in the hole with a 351m stock pistons and it worked well. .035 off the block and .075 off the heads. All it wanted was 91 octane.
