If you are running standard mufflers, put the glasspacks back on. With a turbo, you need as little back pressure as possible or your efficiency will really drop.
I think he means he has turbo style mufflers. Some of the turbo mufflers suck bad. Many of them have the same design as the original did 30 years ago. I have a Magnaflow on my Lightning and really like it. I have a 2 Chamber Flowmaster on my 4.9 and like the power, but despise the noise. Lots of gain can be had by running new muffler technology. What size are the duals? 2.25" should be more than enough for any 4.9. If you are over that or significantly under that it will cause a mileage drop.
If thats american gallons it's not too bad. My 93 4.9 auto 4bi with 3.73s and flowmaster 3" and K&N with a power chip on 92 octane get 17 on average hwy and 12.5 pulling a 3600lb 5th wheel around B.C. which included the icefields parkway to Jasper and back. That's canadian Gallons which I think are about 20% bigger.
Yeah I got 2.25'' pipe all the way. Its funny. My buddy is gettin about 6 mpg on his 90 Ranger 4x4 v6/auto. Im to the point Im about ready to pull that efi piece of junk and put a carbed 6 back in its place. And Ill do it too!
Yeah I know ya will
Hey once you get rid of that silver/red truck you'll have enough $$$ to put some nice stuff on the '93 (unless Kristy finds out about it first lol)
