Made in China
Ugh!
First sticker I see yesterday as I'm looking at the truck before I take delivery, on one of the radiators I see "Made in China"
Not exactly what I was hoping to see on a Ford truck. All of a sudden "Heche in Mexico" doesn't look so bad!

Now, Thats not to say that I don't condone buy from an american owned company, like FORD or government motors, I DO try to buy from companies that the money returns to the states, and not japan or china or India (TATA motors) or italy (Fiat- chysler). Buying american to me, is now a statement of the company's country of origin. not the vehicles country of origin.

Yes it's a global economy. And we're losing. China is having to ride the brakes so their economy doesn't grow too fast. I'm sure they appreciate us selling out our own. One of the biggest reasons I came back to Ford was to support American labor as much as possible. At this point, it's the best we can do.

Not if we don't make the change ourselves. I'm not saying one way is better than another (not saying it here anyway), but the only way things change is if we change 'em. Things don't change direction unless there is a force that is applied to them. So, if you like the way things are going, it's best to do nothing. If you don't like the way things are going, you have to change them somehow. And, we could change things anyway we want in a relatively short time if we're willing to push real hard in a direction.

A lot of stuff is still made in the USA, believe it or not. And a lot of items are finding their way back home because the honeymoon with the Asians is over. But I'm afraid it will never be the same and we are doing some of the damage ourselves. The technical center for the high school had to out it's cad/camm teacher to half days because he had no kids to teach. Their parents tell them to be computer geeks or physical therapists. We are a manufacturing powerhouse we can make anything if the need is there. But we are turning into a service center for the Asian countries and in a sense we are to blame. If not now, in twenty years when we retire, there's libel not to be anybody to pick up where we left off. And that would be worse than sending it to China to be built. I have an apprentice working for me, actually two but one is laid off, but maybe not for much longer, but the point is there's no one learning the art of manufacturing anymore. Just service and sales, want a burger mister, we have a dollar menu!!
