Where is a good place to buy a good rebuilt one to put in my 94? I have the older ZF in it and it needs rebuilt bad but I don't have time to do it plus I only have one vehicle right now. I want to upgrade to the newer ZF 5 speed if I'm going to replace it.
I do not deal with EBAY companies at all. I'm a gun dealer and they don't deal with me either.
That's not a bad price though.
What about aSpringfield XD-40 compared to a 45? I here that the 40 has a better balance. Also whats a good price to a 40? High Jacking your thread a little. --
If you want a pistol that shoots straight then get a 1911 model .45. I carry a 45 1911 that I made myself and wouldn't take a XD in on trade in if it was for free. No matter what caliber. They work ok but I am all about accuracy.
Why get a 40 when you can have a 45? That is one butt kicking bullet to have when your life depends on it. Some people love 40's but I don't. I don't need more rounds in the mag either. That's about it's only benefit.
The 47 zf is an upgrade to the 42 that was with the IDI diesels and the first year powerstrokes like mine. They are ok transmissions but mine has a lot of problems from years of abuse and neglect and I'd rather just have the most current 5 speed there was for it. There are considerable differences.
I have a Colt MK IV Series 60 that is IMO a little too heavy for CH carry. Had a friend get the Springfield XD 40 and he liked it better than his Glock. Whats your thoughts on a Sigsaur?
You being a gun dealer I value your thoughts on this and a am still high jacking your thread a little. http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/Spec...Comparison.pdf

I will have to call them for the price on the 4x4 model and to see if they take payment other than paypal.
As for the 1911, if you can't easily hide a 1911 model then something is wrong. I carry mine open most of the time but I do have a concealed holster that hides it quite well under my starting to grow gut. I never had that till I turned 40. Even when I was a toothpick I didn't have any trouble hiding it. The weight of it isn't a whole lot more than a glock or an XD or even a SIg but all pistols being equal, same caliber, no compensators on then, I can put 8 rounds in a moving target at 50 feet real darn fast with my 1911. I would be lucky to do that with the others. That's why all the ex cons living out here are scared to death of me now. My practice range is right behind my shop and they hear me shooing all the time. We have three child molesters living within a mile now. Isn't it great? Move to a far to get away and all the city laws against them people force them out here too.
Really get a good holster for the 1911. I'm not sure how to describe mine but it works perfect. My Western rig that I wear around here was made by Rudy at Black hills leather and that one is just awsome!
This is my pistol. My son made the grips and I did the rest.
That's my old duty holster in the pic. They are nice because noone else is going to take it out of the holster but it's not concealable.

Nice looking gun.
My wife has a Taurus 9mm its a POS. I would like to sell hers and the Colt and by a new one for me and get her a smaller gun. That way she may got get her CHL when I requalify.
Get a brownells catalog. I saw them advertising on here a few days ago. You can mail order everything you need from them. The dframe has to go through a dealer and I can help Texas members out with that. I am a gunsmith but I can't build a pistol for anyone else. I would be more than happy to help though or offer guidance.
That brownells catalog has everything you need though. If you want one like mine, get an Ed Brown match barrel and bushing, Wilson combat oversized beavertail and most of the small parts from Wilson too. I also recommend the Wilson combat spring caddy so you can shoot any loads you would ever want to in it. Don't get the extended slide stop and magazine release if it's going to be a concealed carry gun. They get hung up.
My son made the grips on mine. I am busy enough doing rifle stocks so he helps me out in the shop with those.
The parts I used all required a lot of fitting so if you do it yourself i'd recommend getting a book and the tools. Or if you want to spend a weekend out here, I'll trade you some manure shoveling for using my tools and picking my brain. It's really not hard to do at all when you have some help.
