Hey Magnet, I noticed in a thread from awhile back you said you were gonna replace your s&b filter with a dry AMSOIL filter. Did you ever do it and if so where did you get the filter from and part#. I've had my s&b in for about year and half now and need to either clean the filter or replace with new dry one (preferrably).
Thanks for your help guys. I got so wrapped up with all the forum talk about 4wd issues that I overlooked the possibility of a cv joint. I'll check that out after I do my vacuum tests.
Hey JWILLY, My S&B intake is still close to new. As soon as it starts to fade on me I am going to replace it with an Amsoil EA series air filter. I use Amsoil in everything I own. They offer a variety of direct fit, and also a list of custom sizes that they offer for the cold air intake systems as well. I haven't fully looked into the exact size yet, But below is a link to the filter page of their site. If not there, there are plenty of dealers who would be happy to get you what you need. While your there, Order a free catalog; If you know nothing of their product, You will be surprised. Ive experienced first hand how well their oil works. I am not computer saavy, So if this link doesen't come up, Google Amsoil air filters. AMSOIL Absolute Efficiency Air Induction Filters with Nanofiber Technology EaAU
Well I guess I didn't fix the grinding cause this morning it was grinding its **** off. Weird thing is when I started the truck this morning I tried turning cv axles and drivers side would turn but not passenger side which is where grinding comes from. I could not move cv axle on passenger side at all. So plugged vacuum line ONCE again and to work I went. Lunch time= Chevy/GMC shopping!!! I have had it with this crap.
Well you gotta do what ya gotta do JWilly, Ive been in that boat before. And i wish i could help you out more but there is only so much you can do over a message board.
Yeah don't get me wrong, I like my truck, but there comes a time when you just get tired of constantly working on it. If it would just stay warm year round I would be fine LOL!!
XJ--any idea why one side would work fine in the morning when its cold and the other feels like its frozen. Works fine I mean cv axle turns. Now while its 45deg outside I hooked vacuum back up and everything is working right. Maybe I need a new vacuum reservoir box thats the only thing I haven't replaced yet. Hell its only 18 bucks online, why not.
You already replaced both IWE hubs right? It could be just a malfunctioning IWE hub or the grease that the IEW hub is coated with gets to hard when real cold and wont let the hub release. I replaced both hubs last march. i then had to replace one of them again in june cause it wouldnt let go all the time. Just a thought, the dealership will probably replace the one you take out free of charge.
Yeah replaced both hubs and both iwe actuators well drivers side replaced twice. I think I'm just gonna roll with it like it is man I'm kinda tired of messing with it. I just know that when it's gonna be very cold to plug the vac line and when its warm run it with vac. Major pain in the *** but thats my luck. Basically I've got a brand new 4x4 system that still won't work properly when its freezing outside. New hubs, iwe's, vac lines, solenoid, check valves etc... Need a new vac reservoir box and new engine to produce vacuum that oughta do it LOL!!!!!!
