anyone ever put a receiver on the front of their truck?i was thinkin about it to put random things on the front.i know you can but was wondering how folks did it
I started to set one up for the front of the dually, may finish it yet someday. I've used them lots of times though, we had 'bumpers' on some tractors at my grandfathers that we used for various tasks. Few years ago a friend was looking for better ways to position trailers in his shop, and I told him to go get a front mount hitch. He loves it, as it is so easy to see when positioning a trailer with a boat on it in a tight corner.
thats kinda what i was thinking.and in case something ever happened to my truck i could hook my truck to another instead of a huge tow bill and it would be nice to have a clevice mounted to it as well
My friends f-350 ccsw has one with a square cutout in the bumper for access. He keeps a 8000lb warn to pull trees the way he wants them to fall (usually away from homes). I have one made up that drops down under my bumper but haven't had time or need to finish the install. Both attach to the frame.
Lots of guys put them on the front around here for portable winch mounts. Just a couple pieces of square tubing and some plate to fab it up to the frame. The ones I have seen look like they were thrown together in a hour lol
I put one on my off road rig built it into the winch bumper. Sometimes when I went to the mountains, I towed my blazer backwards with my wrecker and the travel trailer with the hitch on front of it. It was kind of redneck but it worked. lol
I got one for my '05 *h*v* daully. (Please be gentle with me, my house is a 3 Fords to 1 c*e*y house ok.) Ranch hand w/PIA lights and a receiver on the front. I LOVE IT. I have used it stabbing trailers in really tight places in the barn. Pulled out all kinds of vehicles. Pulled down trees and even moved a trailer house w/it once. (Not too far, just a quarter of a mile) I am so glad I got one. Search CL or searchtempest I paid 200 bucks for mine. I use a receiver w/pintle hook for pulling. Then just my standard receivers when pushing my trailers around.
I had one on my XJ, and will probably put one on the dually I am building up...
on the XJ it got alot of use shoving trailers around, being dragged around when I busted something wheeling, and the ability to use one winch both fron and rear...
Back when we had our slide-in camper, I had a front hitch on the F250 to put my custom made bike rack. Just slides right in the hitch, and it's a big plat form with 3 slots to put 3 bikes on it.
