Other than doing a buzz test with a computer or scan tool, or sending them to an injector shop. You can pull the valve covers off, and have someone crank the truck over while you watch the injectors to see if oil is coming out of the injector oil spout on the side of the injector while cranking.
You could also ohm the soleniod checking for a reading of less than 5 ohms, but I think you'd be better off checking the PCM and IDM first. You can do a visual inspection on both of them for signs of moisture inside the case. There's a place in Florida that usually has some good deals, autocomputerexchange I think.
A scanner is going to be your cheapest avenue for fixing this. Otherwise you'll just end up throwing parts at it. Buying just a couple of injectors you don't need will pay for the scanner.
