The Flowmaster Y was my first thought. I used one on a '91 F150 with a 351 I built. It worked great, but my eyeball measurements say it might be a bit long for the 6.8 setup with the converter in the original location. Cutting the 3" section back some may allow it to work.
If it were available in stainless I would already have one.
High Performance Coatings HPC did a set of Harley straight pipes for me a few years back for $69 so if you are worried about not being stainless you could go with getting a new Y pipe coated...
my y is steel and about 2 years old.Its still as good as new.My buddy at the exaust shop was telling me to wach out for the stainless. When the exaust is real hot and you hit a puddle it could crack or worp
The flutter is not part of the exhaust. It is the transmision dust cover vibrating. A member here pointed it out to me. Use a screw driver and bend it away.
A Y pipe is easy to do any muffler shop should do it for 50 bucks or so, it does help as what is there now is a necked down T not a Y.
Hate to disagree, but there is a thing called flutter with the V10 and it can be traced to the exhaust on many trucks. Some folks who think they have flutter have fixed with bending the trans shield. Others have fixed by removing or repairing their vibrating exhaust heat shields. Still others have fixed with aftermarket Y pipe and some others with a set of headers. Some even report the flutter moving to another RPM band or reducing in intensity with the instal of a less restrictive cat back exhaust system. Flutter is real, and like all things noisy is very annoying to some owners others just live with it. Not every V10 develops flutter, some have a mild case, I have even heard the noise so bad the radio had to be turned up very loud. Point is that it seems to be different in different trucks and non existant in others. On the other web site there are many posts with WAV files hoping someone can diagnose the sound or asking if this is the sound to even some pertty good examples of exactly what flutter sounds like.
If you don't believe me ask NoMo
for the record my 28000 mile V10 never had flutter, just a rattling trans shield.

Mine was diagnose as flutter, Ford changed the Y-pipe twice and the heat sheild but nothing worked it was one of the mose iritating things you ever heard. It was the trans shield, every other person that I have spoken to had the same problem so I find it hard to believe there is a grimilan hiding only in a few truck and not others.
My truck still has a very slight case of flutter. I did the tranny shield bend trick and helped quite a bit, even put silicone on it. Also installed a Flowmaster 70 series muffler and helped. The flutter I thought had gone away last week with the new muffler install. The last two mornings flutter has returned. It is worse on the first acceleration of the morning always right at 1800 rpms. After the truck has warmed up it is not real noticeable. Before the tranny shield and muffler the first accel. in the morning was so noisy you could not hear the radio. The "Y" pipe from Summit was at the door when I got home today. Guess I'll swing by the muffler shop on the way home tomorrow and see what we can come up with.

Let us know how much work it was to integrate the Summit Y pipe into your exhaust and cost too please.
