I got a 72' 360 engine

seems to have a big mis fire i think its due to timing or the carb I bought a new fuel pump that fixed the issue of hitting the accelerator and it dieing now it sounds awful when i give it a rush amount of fuel holding the pedal to the floor. Idk whats wrong with it?

Ford carbs have a tendency to have problems with the Accelerator pump and the power valve. They are both found in the same area of the carb. The accelerator pump is found on the front left corner of the carb and it takes four screws to remove it and put the new one in place. The power valve is directly under it on the bottom side of the carb; again you remove four screws to get the cover off and the remove the old valve and reverse the process the install the new one. If you can find a tag on one of the front screws holding the top of the carb in place take it to you auto parts store and get the appropriate carb kit and rebuild the carb. The ford two barrel is one of the most straight forward carbs and when done you should see a marked difference in the running of the engine.
