Fueling-Up Issues

This may be a weird question, but when I fuel up my diesel it gets all foamy and takes forever to get full. I'm almost sure it's not fueling to capacity.

my truck does the same thing. one time it actually foamed up so much that it spilled over down the side of my truck. what i usually do when im filling up my truck is when i know its getting full ill let off on the nozzle and pump slowly hoping it wont foam up so much and ill get a full tank. other times after the pump clicks off ill wait a minute then start pumping again to get a full tank.

apparently you can do something to the tank to it will vent faster and this wont happen. hopefully somebody will come along that knows more about that.

its the diesel fuel.. it will foam as it retains the air that is "venturied" into the nozzle so that when the tank gets full it shuts off automatically. i just let her run WFO then when she shuts off i barely open the fuel nozzle to where it trickles out but it takes a LONG time(up 10 minutes) to fill up that way as i go from tank to tank allowing the bubbles to disperse untill i see bubble free fuel in the filler tube... biodiesel es even worse!!

Take the hose off the tank, jerk the little hose out of the large hose, and then put it back together. It helped mine, and I got the idea from this forum. You probably could do a search and find it.

Diesel fuel foams when you pump it.

You can remove the fill spouts, then pull the vent line out and reinstall the fill spout.

Much less spitting and the tanks fill faster.

When you open the fill door, there should be three screws that hold the spout to the truck bed.
Then remove the large hose clamp the holds the hose to the fill spout.
It will take a bit of work to get the hose loose from the spout, I used a small flat screw driver to work it loose, then remove the spout.
You should then be able to pull the vent hose out.

Now put the spout back on and reinstall the bolts holding the spout to the bed and tighten the clamp.

With the large diesel nozzles it will still be a pain, but with the smaller nozzles you should be able to fill much faster.
If you fill the tanks all the way, you still have to wait for the foam to go down though.

the small hose is the fill hose
the tank vents between the small and large hose
usually when the fuel blows back out the small fill hose has disconnected from the neck
if someone replaced the hose and it is too long will also cause the issue
