So I have been lurking here and getting good info, what I'm wondering is the scanner thing. I read here that a truck over 8900 uses a obd1 system, but is it still readable with an obd2 scanner?
Hey I'm a noob, and dont want to goto the stealership anymore......
Your '02 should be (is) OBD II. If you want to be 100% sure,,, look at the vehicle emission sticker under your hood near the latch catch. This should confirm it for you.
Below in an example of the sticker for you which happens to also be a 2002 F350 but a 6.8 US vehicle
You'll notice near the bottom of the sticker it states its OBD II certified.
This is correct in my mind, however there will be people in here shortly to disagree. This was brought up in a debate awhile back on here, about some of the 7.3's with a higher GVWR. However in my 13 years as a tech, I have NEVER laid eyes on one.
But to answer the OP question, your truck without a doubt is OBDII
The guys above gave you correct and good information.
All vehicles after 1996 should be OBDII.
A good scanner (they usually cost about $200-$300),
will cover all models.
Or go to your local Autozone and get it done for you free.
Just a thought to save some money.
