I am confused, I thought I heard somebody say on here one time that the newer Superduty's w/7.3(99-03) still ran on OBD1 technology. Is this true? Reason why I am asking is that I bought a Automotive scanner for use on my Wifes Expedition and on my truck. So I bought one that did OBD1 and OBD2, but when I got under my truck the other day the OBD2 cable for the scanner hooked up. So that is what I was wondering about. I am trying to figure out if I can take the scanner for both back and just buy the one for OBD2 hook up. Hopefully I didn't confuse anybody, thanks for any help on this matter.

 

OBD II, but...most off the shelf OBD II scanners won't work on our trucks..will probably only read standard codes that are relative to all vehicles and won't read codes specific to our trucks...at least not any of the inexpensive ones you'd get from Autozoo or any of those places.

Most people around here use Auto Enginuity. A used superchips tuner will also do it.

With the Auto Enginuity will I be able to see the specfic desiel codes smokin is talking about, or do I have to buy the enhanced Ford package for that?
