I replaced my OEM locking hubs with Warn hubs last spring and last week was the first time I needed to used 4x4. When I did switch it to 4x4 the dash heat went to defrost. That when I realized that I didn't plug the vacuum line under the hood near the vacuum pump. After plugging the line I still have the same problem of switching to defrost when I engage the 4x4.
Does anyone have a pic of which line I need to plug under the hood. or what else I may need to do to fix this.
My computer crashed last week and lost every think I saved for FTE.
Hey Mark, I know you can plug the ones going to your hub, put a screw in the line of sorts and cap off those fittings with a plastic-rubber cap, that should do it. Sorry to hear about your computer, mine did the same thing two weeks ago, clicked on a link and everything went nuts.
You can cap them down at each wheel were they transition from hard line to rubber. You need four caps two for each side. remove the soft rubber line that runs from the hard line down to the wheel assembly. Place a cap on the hard line and one on the fitting on the wheel assembly.
I have a attached a link to a picture of the vacuum system in the engine bay. You can disonnect the line from the solenoid and cap that line instead of doing down in at the wheels.
Here's the pic I made up. The Vac Line To Hubs goes to a 90 degree elbow.
Pull apart there and plug line that goes back to the Vac Reservoir as
well as the one that goes to hubs (to keep out moisture and crap).

But wouldn't capping the line under the hood do the same thing Mike ?

Edit : Lifted77 beat me to my own pic.
I wish I had spelled vacuum properly.
Ok.. in your pic, The line marked Vac line to hubs is the one I plugged at the 90deg elbow. and the heat still blows threw the defrost when in 4x4

Well that's not right. That is where mine is plugged due to a hub leak and mine doesn't default. Check the HVAC Vac Line. Make sure it is tight at both ends, and the double plug at reservoir is OK.

That was my thought as well, the leak must be upstream from the 90 degree elbow. I capped off the lines at the hubs in the wheel wells with no issues when I switched to the Warns. Good luck.
Yep, looks like Robin and lifted77 got you, great diagram Robin has. The way I said to cap it is just a fix now, you can get more creative and do a nice job like Robin posted..
