so i was leaving the grocery store today and when i went the corner at about 5mph i felt some weird rubbing from the back of the truck it felt like one of the tires was rubbing and falling off. so i came to a stop and got out and checked out the back of the truck to see if anything was loosing or rumbing. got back into the put it in drive and now it felt like somethiing was binding in the back it felt like if you were to put a stick into a bicycle tire. so i tried it in reverse and it was ok, had to drive 1 mile back to my house in reverse. got it back to my house and decided to try it going foward again and it was ok untill i rounded the first corner and it stared to bind up and make funky noises in the rear end again, like it was falling apart or something. i was able to limp back to my house and took off the diff cover, drained the oil which look new and inspected it. there was no metal shavings, no mising gears or anything. although i really dont know how to inspect the inner spider gears, and how do get those gears to spin while jacked up to inspect. What do you guys think!!!! any help would be apperciated. the truck is a 04, with 68,000 miles.
thanks

sounds like the limited slip is locking up. I had chevy that would do the same thang is it out 4 wheel drive could have somthing to do with the diffrental. I'm not shur if the fords have a locker in the front end
no locker in the front. It is an open diff. Does sound like your LS was staying locked. So put some new lube in it. Best to get some with the friction modifier for the ls already added and see what it does when you turn.
With the rearend off the ground, see if you've got any end play in the wheel bearings. You don't even need to remove a tire to check this. Just jack it up, (make sure the front end is blocked from rolling) and using a pry bar under the wheel, see if you can get any movement when applying some upward pressure. You can also spin the wheels and feel if there is any binding with both wheels off the ground.
Well it turned out to be the emergency brakes. the backing plate was rusted which could of caused the problem but there was peices of the emergency clips rolling around in the passenger rear wheel. I called ford and each backing plate is 335.00 . so i just replace the rotors and pads and just removed the emergency brakes. i know its not reconmended but for now it will work. Once again guys i apperciate the help!!!!!
thanks
