Ok guys I have a question I have a friend that keeps on telling me that his father has a "2005 I think" Chevy 2500HD and keeps on saying that the truck has a Corvette engine in it, is that possible? Making comets like that truck hauls A$$, im really tired of hearing this. As you all can tell I dont know anything about Chevy never really cared for them.
Thanks ~Gage~
If he is referring to having the same "displacement" as a Corvette, he may be correct depending on which engine is residing in the Silverado. But that's the extent of it. The Corvette version is tuned much differently and does not share many of the top end components with the truck engine, not an apples/apples comparison.
Tell him who cares how fast it is ask him what it does under a load. A few years back when I had my V10 work truck (2000 F350 CC LB) a guy was riding with me and came right out and told me his 1/2 ton Chevy with a built 350 would kick my butt. I told him I would race him when he loaded it up Chevy up so it weighed 9400 lbs like my truck. He declined
So sick of hearing that. Had this ****** I worked for last year tell me that his stupid Escalade had the "Corvette" engine. Read a Car & Driver little later, it definitely did not. Might be the same displacement, but is definitely different. BTW, he was a midget of a man with a serious ego complex.
Thanks for the help guys, I didn't think he knew what he was talking about. To top it off I find out that the truck isn't even his, its the company's truck.
What a joke.

Kind of like how the base F250 has the Ford GT engine?

Reason: Spelling.
I have a 2004 2500HD with a 6.0 and I would not say that it hauls ***. Of course it has 35's and a Diablosport Predator tune. Tires hurt, tune helps a little. It is quicker 0-60 than my stock 2005 F350 6.0 which weighs 10K lbs (utility bed) but the F350 is quicker 60-80 it seems.
