well they will be a little bit lighter, but you need to consider that when you pull on the handle, it pops the door a little bit too. and id doesnt take much pressure to open a door. also depends on the condition of your hinges and whether or not your body panels bind. i would assume you dont have that problem, and that your hinges are good. i can imagine that 50 lbs would be overkill, but im the kinda guy who is a true believer that you can never have too much of a lot of things, and i think itd be a good way to go. like i said, the doors really dont take that much to open. it also depends if the popper is in the front or back of the door.

Are you talking about the poppers themselves or the remote latch? First, If your stock latches are in good shape, I would stay with the stock latch. Talk to the manufacture's tech guys about which remote latch is appropriate for what you are doing. The popper actually pushes the door open once the latch releases. You may or may not need/want poppers.

You should be able to use the current mechanizm. Buy a shave door handle kit with poppers. The kit will include a set of solenoids that will bolt the the inside of the door, and attach to the current mechanism with a cable. The popper itself is a spring loaded mechanism that can be attached in a number of different ways. The popper is set when the door is closed. When the mechanism unlatches, the spring loaded popper pushes the door open. I would think wither a 35 or 50 pounded popper would work easily. If you call tech support for the company you pick to work with, I'm sure they can give you a better idea for the proper popper for your situation.

when i bought a 50lb kit from autoloc it actually uses the same solenoid as the 75 lb kit, just cheaper. I used my kit for an 85 GTI and it would fling the door open, i would assume 50lbs is a good one to use. just my .02
