what kind of locker? clutch type or detroit? or maybe a limited slip.... I asked these questions once too.
The difference can depend on how aggressive the locker is. It will be a bit harder to take tight turns, your tires will chirp every once in a while, and your truck will handle different, which you'll probably get used to.
I just installed the same one back in July. Running 36's with no problems so far. I doubt it will hold up to a built motor. If you have future plans for big tires and big HP you better find a 10.25 and lock that.
I'd stay away from the lunch box lockers if you plan do anything aggressive with the truck. I've got 2 that I destroyed sitting in the garage just as a reminder. If you want to go cheap, find yourself a factory LS and put in the FMS Carbon clutch kit. It's been holding up to my 38.5 boggers in mud bogs/drags for the last few years with no problems. If it's a little more strength and you don't mind the wander feel around corners, spend the money on a Detroit gear setup, or go really big money and get an ARB or Eaton E-locker then just turn it on when you need it.
Kjett...maybe I'll see you at Saluda. Maybe that nasty green truck from SC can show up. I'll bring the beer and hoes.
Quoted because I'm holding you to it!
Kris, you hear this? I don't think he realizes how much we drink. You got any pics of the aftermath in your shop of the last time I came down to play in the mud?
I can bring the beer for sure. Hoes might be a problem. But maybe just one to see this incredible green beast in action. I might have a extra 75 HP next time
lol um lets see. i have a 300, and the most ill do is P&P the head, so im not spinning the earth faster with my power haha. its just something i was thinkin about so i can get some better take off traction coming from turns in the snow, and when i go mudding which isnt too often, just for fun every once and a while and since i can lol
If you have a open case now, I'd say go for it. You dont have much to lose. Easy to install. But just to warn you, when you give it gas it spins both tires all the time.
