Instrument Cluster Change

Hi, I am new to fourm. First post, but have used the forum alot in the last few weeks. Thank you for all your posts.
About a month ago I bought a 94 F150 XLT Supercab 4X4, shortbed, 5 speed, 5.0, 3.55. Since purchase, I have replaced steering box, water pump, front brakes and rotors, Drivers ball joints, front axle ujoints, front driveshaft ujoints, rear speed sensor, and rear parking brake cables. I would like to replace the factory instrument cluster with a factory one that has a tach in it. Is this a simple swap as long as I get a 94 cluster, or what other years will work. I am not worried about the odometer not matching my current numbers, but I would want it to work. Also I am assuming that Ford did not change the wiring between tach trucks and non tach trucks, but I would like to see if anyone has any info or experience doing this. I have searched the forum about this, but have not found anything concrete. Thanks for the help.

Its an simple swap. Just make sure you get a 94 or 95 cluster.

I swapped cluster with one out of a 95. All lights and gauges work but tach is dead. I checked fuse #17 which is suppose to run chime and tach and checks good. Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Nevermind. I did not have the one wire bundle completely snapped in.
I guess I thought it was wireless.

That made me laugh

I want to do the same swap, but can't find a truck in my area that isn't completely gutted or has the same cluster I already have. Did I understand from some of the other threads on this that as long as you change out the psom to the new cluster the odometer reading stays the same?
