1987 ignition switch

My son is trying to change out the ignition key switch as well as the contact block on our 1987 F150. My understanding is that he should be able to change out both without pulling the steering wheel off. Is that correct?

if the truck has tilt stewering you can change without removing wheel,if non tilt you will probably have to remove wheel.I have the tilt and it takes just minutes

Thanks for the info. It does have the non-tilt column. I'll pass the info on to him so he can be looking for a puller. Thanks.....
