Sometimes when I hit the key the truck starts but the starter stays engaged till I get out and peck on the solonoid.
I did put a new solonoid on it yesterday but it still done the same thing.
Has anyone else had this problem with 1987 F150 4.9.
Also I might mention my ignition switch feels like it is a lil stiff and not kicking back after I start the truck.

The switch is the problem, not the solenoid. You can try to lube the switch with wd-40, but I think I'd just replace it. It could also be an internal problem in the column.
You should have a real strong spring return from "start" to "run". The return spring is in the ign./start switch not the key switch. Look under the instrument cluster and on top of the steering column and you will see the it. It is connected to the key switch by a thin rod that runs up the column to the ign. switch actuator which is, in turn, connected to the key switch. Your problem may be a faulty ign./start switch or the ign. switch actuator needs replaced. From your description of no spring return I would look at the ign./start switch first.
Ok I took old key switch out and put a new one in. Cleaned it all, oiled, and Put it all back together and it still keeps trying to start not disengaging the starter.
Took starter off and checked and everything there looks fine.
I did see the actuator rod and cleaned it and lubed it the best I could.
How do you take out the ign. switch actuator
Any info on that would be helpful.
Thanks

Is your key sticking in the start position? My '87 won't spring back from the start position, so I have to manually move it. It doesn't bother me, but my Ma almost ruined my starter, because she bumped the starter and let go of the key, but the starter just kept spinnin.
