Rerouting Plug Wires Cures Stumble

Just wanted to post a tip for others who may have similar issues. I've always had a slight hesitation or stumble under load at highway speeds. Truck has run well except for this issue. I just recently rerouted the plug wires taking care to keep them all as far away from each other as possible. The result is that the stumble / hesitation has disappeared and the 351 actually feels like one now when I need it.

Hope this helps.

I have the same issue with my 302, I just need to replace the wires and reroute them, but that stumble sure will drive you crazy looking for it!

You might try misting the wires after dark to see if arcing occurs. Use a water bottle that sprays a mist. When you find arcing either move or replace those wires. I had a slight stumble on my 88 F150 with the 4.9 and it turned out to be the egr.

Sorry. I'd post pics but my wife has "misplaced" our digital camera so I can't take any pics right now. I can tell you that I removed most of the wire holders. The back drivers side wire I ran behind the coil. The back passenger's side wire went through the upper manifold. Doesn't look very good but cured my issues. I didn't have a plan, just went at it with the idea of keeping the wires as seperate as possible.

I like that msd cap. Looks much easier to keep the wires apart.

I'm thinking, that I might try taking the extra wire holders that I have on my 1995 (if they are still there) and use them to further space out my wire, (leaving the centers empty)

I thought this was kind of interesting. It shows where crossfire is common on certain engines
