rear wheel spinning

I have a 2008 f-450 dually and it snowed this week, first off the road tires ford puts on these trucks sucks. Second only one side of the rear wheels drives this truck?? I have 4:30 gears and the two passenger side tires were not moving and the drivers sides were spining. I should of bought a 4 wheel drive hind sight is 20x20. So am I stuck or is there anything I can do with getting all the rear tires to drive.....

You need to post your axle code so we can tell if you have a limited slip in the rear end.

Folks advised me to power brake a little to try to get the friction clutch in the limited slip rear end to tighten up but generally the scoop is that the limted slip will only provide a fraction of power to the non spinning wheel, the less traction the one side has, even less torque going to the stationary one.

Eaton lockers are popular as add ons. I don't know anything about them but other guys here do.

first off when im on snow covered roads, i have to let the air out of my tires. depending on weather you are empty or not will determine how low to go with the preasures. empty and wanting serious bit (because i pull peaple out of the dithes that had no buisness driving there minivans in 15 inches of snow) i run 40 psi in the front and 25 rear. the factory contonentals on my truck will go like a tank. as soon as the roads are clear i air back up. with 60-70 psi on snow my truck spins and slides.
i did get stuck once and only 1 rear wheel was pulling, apply a small amount of parking brake will cause some power to transfer to the other. it got me out with both rears pulling, but i dont think it will work if you are stuck in a bar way. i was through about 8 inches of snow and 4-5 inches of mud deep. i think i was lucky to get myself out.

best advice I can give you with your current setup is carry wt in the back in, maybe 1,000 lbs to help, power braking may help some as suggested above. Carry some kitty litter/sand and shovel with you at all times.

Yes the tires are weak, since you have the 19.5 tires not sure what your options might be to swap them out. That was one of the first things I did.

Tapping the brake will help if its limited slip but if its an open differential you will have to install a new carrier to see any improvement. If going that route might as well get the Eaton.
