I have a 1962 Ford 100 step side 2 wheel drive truck that has had a 390 put into it.
When I got the truck it had some old junk tires and wheels on it.
I now have a set of 15x8" mag wheels to put on but am wondering what the best size tire would be for the truck? This truck is not going to be performance related, Probably just a weekend cruiser in the summer time.
The old rotted tires that were on the old wheels were 235/75/15's.
I went with 235/75/15 because they are close to the original tire height and the most common light truck tire size which makes them easy to find and relatively inexpensive. I have Wranglers which have a rounded sidewall and would be perfect for a Jeep or SUV. I would prefer a straighter sidewall for a more traditional look. I will get a different tire when I get a set of innie wheels and bottle cap hub caps. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
you can put 32x11.50s on the back without rubbing unless on super rough terrain trust me on this i have even done it with 2 rick of wood in the back with no issue main problem i have run across is wheel depth offset being to far to the inside of the bed and 33x12.50 15s rub the inside of bed same as 285 75 16s
My 62 4x4 has 7.0 x 15. Narrow tires equal easier turning, break through the ice and snow to gravel easier. Note the heavy duty springs. Clearance is not a problem as this is a flatbed truck.
The red 66 250 up on the hill is my guard dog and emergency truck. No one wants her at $1500 so she may go to one of the grandkids in a dozen years or so.
