i have a 96 f250 reg. cab swb that i wanna turn into a reg. cab f350 dually. i found a 90 dually bed and was wondering if it would line up and just bolt in place of my long box? thank you guys for all the info about our trucks you guy make up a great forum to read
Just swap the fender flares off the dually box onto your F-250 box. You may also have to cut the wheel well lip off the F-250 box to clear the tire. Then all you have to paint is the flares instead of the entire box. This the cheapest and easiest way to go.
Have you given any thought about installing a flatbed???
I dont think the bolt holes will line up, Duallys have narrower frame rails, My dually is 34 inches wide and i know regular truck frames are prolly 6 inches wider, Like chipper said you should be able to swap the flares and save u alot of time,
Mine had a service deck on when I bought it and I picked up a dually bed from a '91 and it bolted right up. I had thought mine was a chassis cab, but I was wrong. It was only an 'incomplete truck' from the factory. I have a chassis cab for a parts truck. They are quite different and would not line up. Everything should bolt right up for you, and swapping boxes really isn't that hard.
What shape is your bed in & what shape is the dually bed in? What colors, too? If both the same or close, I'd sell your bed & install the dually bed. Swapped a bed onto a cab & chassie once welded brackets to fram to get it all to fit right. You can do anything w/ a torch & hammer, just burn it or bang it LOL.
ANY ford truck with a bed from 1980 to 1997 will interchange, the body lines of 1980 to 1986 are different from 1987 to 1997. Bolt holes for all LB are the same & all SB are the same & all duallies are the same as LB.
