86 ranger 2.3? vs2.9, 4.0

86 ranger 2.3? vs2.9, 4.0
have a 2.3 86 ranger 5 speed. been looking at explorers with the 4.0 for a few houndreds. what i have been thinking is either finding me a bronco ii with the 2.9 or the explore with a 4.0 and putting in my ranger.
i dont know much about the 4.0 but i really loved the 2.9. had a b2 with the 2.9 and thought it had nice power and real good on gas.
which would be a better engine to go with? i know there will be work to do but im looking for whole vechile with the engine so i have all that i need plus more.
please tell me pros and cons of the 2.9 vs 4.0
if i was to get a explore would a ranger body fit on the fram?

i just took and put an 86 2.9 in my 85 that had a stock 2.3 the 2.9 has plenty of power ive drivin many rangers from a 2.o to the 4.0 the 2.9 is in my opinion the better engine the 4.0 is just to much power for the little trucks i find the 2.9 to be plenty and it was a some what easy swap
a kid in my town thought his 4.0 was a fast little truck so i told him lets race ive got headers a larger throttle body and a cool air intake granted the cool air really didnt do much but we lined up and i wasted his 4.0 till i hit 4th gear his auto has longer legs that my fm145
but back to my piont little changes can make a huge difference on the 2.9 but thats my opinion
