need help

can anyone tell me what kind of work would need to be done to get a '90 4.0 ranger engine to fit in an '89 ranger that originaly had a 2.9

Welcome to FTE. I would say the hardest part would be the wiring. If you have everything out of the 90 and take careful notes, you should be ok.

They are the same basic engine so it shouldn't be bad. Do a search, there are many posts on this topic.
