Hello There, I am new to this site, and i am looking for a little knowledge.
I have a 2003 F250 SD, V10, with 135000 miles on it, I have recently lost all conpression on the #5, and only have 60 psi on the #4. So I have to replace the motor. Is it possible to put in the 3V motor, or should I stay with the 2V?
Hi; sorry for your trouble. I don't know anything about the new stuff, but this seems a little exstream. Loss of compression on 2 adjoining cylinders ? Maybe it's just a head gasket failure? Are there other problems to add to the list? 135K is'nt that much. Inquiring minds want to know. OBCB
No other problems, no loss of coolant,
I am also surprised that I did not get more miles out of the motor.
Oil changes every 3K miles, plugs changed and trans flushed @ 30, 60k, 90K, and 120K, fuel filter every 6k,
Yea I am ****,
i agree, i would pull the heads and inspect. could be a cracked head or blown gasket. how do the spark plugs look on those cylinders? have you had the codes pulled, i would think something would show up having the vehicle basicly running on 8cyl vs the 10.
no codes showed, I did pull the plugs #5 plug is really black, # 4 plug center core of plug discentigated. all the rest where white.... I run Bosch platinium plug... had a shop run thier diognostics on it and came up with nothing, till the comp. check//
not sure about those plugs for that motor. i can tell you that we only run copper plugs in our broncos/f150's prior to 97 since the plat plugs are garbage and dont work well.
i wonder if you lost a valve on those cylinders. if a valve stays open you will loose compression also. was that a ford shop you had it looked at?
Looks like you got the crews attention and they're getting on board. With a little work, some tests, well by golly we'll have you up and running in no time. Best of luck OBCB
Well it look like I have to go with the 2V motor,,,
As for the plugs would you mind telling my why I should not use the the Bosch plugs?? Just curious...
because there crap. copper is a better conductor of electricity then platinum. only benefit to the platinum plugs is they last longer. I am curious how long had it been since you changed the plugs on that motor or are they the original plugs? also who performed the compression test?
I changed the plugs every 30k miles, the guy who did the compression check worked at ford, but owns his own shop. I then took it to ford and they confirmed...
