i think ford started making the 3.0 engine instead of the 2.9 in the ford ranger in 1990 dose this mean a 1990 ford bronco II has a 3.0 being that it has the same 2.9 the ranger had the option of for all the other years or did they just keep the 2.9 till 1991 when it was replaced by the 4.0 ford explorer

yes in the bronco but after 1990 the 2.9 engine itself which was used in both the bronco II and ranger was replaced with a 3.0 although the bronco II was no longer made the engine that it had was still in production for an engine option in the ford ranger and was remade from a 2.9 to a 3.0 back when bronco II's where made with the 2.9's engines that same engine was available as a choice in the ford ranger so if you hade the 2.9 v6 engine in your ranger you basically had a bronco II pick up
