no it has to be on the ground so that the wheels on the pavement stop the driveshaft from turning(that is, if its engaging the driveshaft).

OK... so the switch and the transfer case is all good ! Turn the hubs in manually and see if you can turn the big u-joint that is behind the wheel ! If you can still turn those with your truck in 4WD then your hubs are screwed. If those u-joints can't be turned and it is locking in the hub manually then I would say you have a vaccum leak and your auto part of the hub is not working ! Make sense ???????

Testing complete. The hubs locked in 4x4 and the transfer case engaged, and even not engauged and the drive shaft spins by hand!

Is that with the hubs locked manually ???? Sounds like you have a hub issue to me ! Your vacuum system might be ok ??

Yes you can put Warn hubs in..... I've got them in my truck !!!!! You have to cut and plug the vacc lines where they enter the wheel well ! Right where the steel line turns into rubber. Cut the rubber hose and jam a screw in it with a bunch of RTV on it ! By by vacuum leaks and hello 4WD

U can. Go to warns website and they have you enter in ur vehicle info and show u your options. there are some restrictions on some models but once ur on the website ull know whats up. If for some reason your truck is in the group of exceptions and u absolutely need ur 4x4, use guzzle's instructions and try cleanin them out
