THANX FOR ALL THE GREAT COMMENTS
I picked qs white oak for both its density and its moisture resistance same for the jatoba it is 125% harder than oak and way more dense th qs wenge was chosen for the accent it gives it is also very dense the patina will darken with age , the whole project design was a lesson in joinery ethods I tried real hard to hide all the screws etc the floor is interlocked to provide a sturdy platform and to conseal fasteners it is mounted ona frame which is rubber mounted in 8 locations the tailgate is not screwed or glued but is dowelled to provid movement as the box flexes as for the tailgate latches they are not done yet I am considering doing it with chevy seat belts originally i found boat hatch latches out of stainless tha i thought wold work good I have to add more brass screws to the rail and stiles so it is still a work in progress.question what do you think of a custom wood bumper made in the same theme look at my painted pics and let me know As for the interior it will match the seats but the area where the door handles goe will be covered in a 1/4 inch thick peice of select cocobolo not much wood in the interior as i dont want to get tacky

Woody, since you asked, I would stay with the woodie theme (like Henry) rather than a wooden truck theme. I would stay with chromed or stainless bumpers. Just my opinion.

I'm with Bill...no wooden bumpers, other wise it goes from super-trick to corny, IMHO...

i tend to agree with you guys however the wood bumper i designed is really trick its not a 2x6 slapped on a channel iron it is a lamination which will follow the curve of the front end profile , that aside i still think it wood be too much wood i was thinking of painting a bumper the gun metal grey same as grill

more pic's of this Woody. Woody. Please.
What happened to you and the truck? Don't say the wife
got it in the divorce or you just had to sell it and give her
half.
