One down side is that your dash mileage calculator is no longer accurate. They are pretty close in stock trucks but once they are tuned they are out to lunch. Do the hand calculations and that will give you a better idea. To answer your other question the biggest and most important down side to tuning a truck is losing your warranty. I really can't think of any other negative issues as long as you keep up with maintenance and don't beat on it too hard. Enjoy.
