2003 E-250 5.4 CEL
I have a 2003 E-250 5.4 with 248894 miles. It would randomly not start. The engine would spin over fine but not start. Well now it looks permanent. No fuel pressure, can't hear fuel pump kick on when the key is turned on. I am about sure it is the fuel pump. My question is that in the past when I had a fuel pump fail it was gone, not working only some time. Also I have codes P0171, P0316 and P0302. Would these codes be related to the pump going out or, is this a different problem? Thanks in advance. Also what price range will I be looking at to have someone change out the fuel pump? This thing has a very large fuel tank,~55gal. Thanks again

I think I may have found the problem. The electrical connection for fuel pump was broken. This is on the fuel pump side. If this was not noticed and I swapped out the pump only I would still have a problem. I had to buy the complete sending unit to get this connector.Just one more thing to check when having fuel problems.

Still having problems with codes P0171, P0316 and P0302. Now I also have P0308. I need to check plugs and coils for the missfire codes but I need to know if the missfire codes could be causing the lean condition. Also, how do you go about checking the coils? and how do you check for fire, is there a special inline spark dector? Thanks again
