1998 E250 5.4L massive trouble!!
I am having a terrible time with a 1998 E250 with a 5.4L engine. The van is a farm truck for traveling to farmers markets and I am trying to save the owner some money. The truck was running very bad, so I decided to changes the plugs.........
-the plugs were burned up and the gaps were close to .100. Changed all of the plugs and the truck ran a little better, but not much
-then the exhaust fell down and in turn melted the rear O2 sensor wires which in turn blew a 30amp fuse under the hood. Put a new sensor in and jury rigged the exhaust back up.
-after the fuse change I had no fuel pressure. Dropped the tank and put a new fuel pump in. Old pump was burned out...
-truck still ran like crap. Changed the TPS and the truck ran a little better, but still not good.
-I had no choice but to take the truck to a market on Saturday and barley made it there and back to the farm (100 miles round trip).
-here are the symptoms and codes.....
-terrible gas mileage
-missing terribly on multiple cylinders
-no power going up any incline
-terrible shifting
-it does idle okay
-it starts right up
-seems to run okay when cold for about a mile
-codes

also check you dpfe hoses, these are the two hoses that come off the egr tube that connects to the drivers exhaust manifold and the throttle body at the egr valve, these little hoses connect to the dpfe, which a little square sensor mounted on the side of the throttle body
hope this helps
