Axle ID
Now that I have thrown away 19 years of accumulated junk out of my garage and am fully armed with tons of ziplock bags and sharpie markers, I'm ready to restore my Great Grandpa's 72 F100, 95,xxx original miles. Unfortunately, the 360 motor and C6 transmission hasn't been run/started since 1993. (My fault). My donor truck is also a 1972 with 107,xxx miles. I drove it home over 200 miles, with no issues. It has a 302 and I presume a C4? Originally, I was going to have the 360/C6 rebuilt, but now I'm thinking of swapping the 302/C4. Hopefully one day I'll be older, wiser, and wealthier, and can have the 360/C6 redone. I have located the axle tag on my Grandpa's truck. I'll get it cleaned up this weekend, to get proper id. The donor truck however has no tag on the axle. The id tag on the door jamb says 02 under axle on my Grandpa's truck and 08 on the donor truck. Are these numbers relevant? I've been reading tons of posts on this site since last November, the knowledge shared is amazing. A lot better than the old Chilton's manuals I remember my Dad using, when I was growing up.
