The overhead display is not showing in a readable brightness. It is VERY faint...enough to barely read in low light conditions. It has come back on twice in the last 3 months, but only for a short period of time.
Adjusting the dimmer switch and light switch does not help.
I am interested in how this will work out. Mine just quit on my 2005 Excursion. It was faint, then stopped all together. I think its a loose wire. Cannot figure out how to pull it off though. The part cost about $300 here in Canada!
Pull it apart and look at the circuit board. You will probably find that some of the resistors have come un-solidered. I think it was a common issue for a few years, if you search there is a how-to thread.
Thanks! I need to read the how-to to get at the circuit board. Another poster told me about a guy on E-bay. He can fix it for $40. Thanks! I will have to look into this more.
Don't send it to someone and pay them $40. It is very easy fix, takes longer for the soldering iron to heat up, than to fix it. There is a link on here somewhere for it. EASY.
