pcm
the IDI trucks don't have an on board computer.
unless you have the 4 speed automatic transmission(E40D)there is a pcm for those.
if you have the 3 speed c6 auto or the manual shift trans, you have no pcm period tho.
either way, there's no pcm for the engine if this what your looking for?
I did find this forum post that talks about the location of the PCM https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...d-removal.html
I have had that kick panel off on my 92 and I do not remember seeing anything that resembled a computer box there.... I am pretty sure they were only on gas trucks not diesels. For the diesel all you need is the ABS module and a trany controller if you have the E40D, at least that's what my research has brought up so far.
HATE STEPPING INTO MY LOCAL TOM'S FORD IN KEYPORT NJ, THEY SUCK
AND I DO HAVE A E40D AND I'M DETERMINDED TO FIX THAT POS.---

i got the same thing too an ABS Control Module.
bigjoe, what seems to be the issue?
if your engine is running rough or something, and your trying to read codes or have it read, there is nothing there to plug into.you wont be able to diagnose problems this way.these engines are all mechanical not computer controlled.
this started in 94.5 and up when the newer 7.3's came out called the powerstroke.
those are computer controlled directly injected engines.but before these, there was the IDI,indirectly injected, and mechanical engine that you have.
we can be your on board computer so to speak and help diagnose problems tho.

edit,
oh ok. i see.
what seems to be the problem with the trans? is it shifting at all or?
PS WHAT DOES THAT OTHERE THING ABS CONTROL MOD DO?

edit,
OH i see you already found that and asked a question there lol oops.
ok.so did you plug in a code reader? what code(s) did you pull?
and i found this comment by Mark Kovalsky:
The E4OD will set codes when something is wrong, but a failing MLP will not set a code.
As the MLP ages the resistance increases, which fools the computer into thinking you have moved the shifter into neutral. There is no way to set a code for this because the EEC can't detect if the MLP is failing or if you really moved the shifter to neutral.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
someone with some E40D experience will be along.im just helping ya with some info for now until then lol.
cleaned off the device that goes on the driverside through the fire wall and same results ---nothing
i have a doner truck 93 7.3 took out that cluster --but it is digital--no speedo cable
`very frustrating. then i pulled the plastic kick pannel off and therewas no eec or pcm
just great!!!
i don't know if a bad MLPS will send the trans into limp mode or not tho.
man,where's all the e40d experts.

folks will be off work and be on latter.hang in there bigjoe.
meanwhile at least,we can learn new things together about this trans.
