Gott's Intake Mod

Hi, was just looking around on the site and saw a bit of information on this intake mod with the Pvc pipe. I was just wondering how peoples experience with it has been. Does it make a difference? What advantages does it add? Mileage? Power? Nothing? Has anyone done it and then not liked it? Will it affect your emissions tests? Just curious about it... if its a good thing, it looks really simple and cheap so I might try it. Thanks.

gives a somewhat more "throaty" sound. As for mileage, power, etc, it does about the same as a $300. K&N..... nothing. I did it couple years ago. Like ethe sound and the looks. SHOULD help get more air if neededd, but you really dont need any more air at 1600 RPM cruising speed.

Did this and took out the silencer in the intake tube at the same time.
Under heavy accelleration, I noticed maybe a tiny improvement. Normal driving, just a little more noise.
If you don't mind the noise, I don't see how it can hurt.

Lets look at this from a sleightly technical point of view.
You know there is a throttle body that opens a throttle plate within it's bore.
This positively controls the amount of air passing into the motor hence power production is controlled by varying the 'efficiency' of the motor.
Any changes in the intake tract to increase airflow at any time less than wide open throttle won't make any measurable difference because you have the throttle body plate doing the airflow controlling so nothing changes.
At wide open throttle, if there 'was' a restriction in the stock system that any mod reduces then yes there might be some extra air and power at that time but your motor spends little time at wide open throttle and high rpm..
So you don't get any improvement at throttle openings very much less than wide open throttle. Only change is more noise that dosn't mean more power.

bluegrass. If you measure the cross-section of the trottlebody and compare it to the factory inlet opening, I'm betting it's bigger. That little 2" or so opening in the fenderwell has got to be smaller than the throttlebody. I didn't see any given diameter for a stock throttlebody in a google search, but I'm sure it's bigger than 50mm. (2")
Anyway, I think everyone agrees that any power gained would be at or close to WOT.
Me, I was bored one day, and thought my truck needed to sound more like a truck, and not a silent Cadilac, so I did the mod.
