Hello,
New guy to the site. I have a 2000 F250 with the 7.3 Powerstroke and 215k miles. Pretty much stock except for the chip, have it set in tow mode and have for years now.
Anyway, detecting some trouble with my transmission lately, slipping when I start out in drive and getting the OD flashing light. Took it to the tranny shop today and they read the following codes with their new snap on device. PO 720, 1501 and 605. They dont think it is a tranny problem and recommended I take it to the Ford dealer for further diagnostics, thinking it's more an electrical problem.
Can anyone give me some advice on this, could it be something besides the transmission like they say? I have done a search on all the codes individually but not sure how they all might come together. Any info appreciated before I take it in to the dealer.
Thanks Chris, I didnt have time to track it down today but will take a look tomorrow. Not sure what I'm looking for but at least I have a place to start.
Is it cheap enough to buy these parts and replace them myself? If so where would you recommend I buy them? Dealer, internet, International parts place? Paul
Welcome and i too am having the same problem. The parts you are asking about are cheep and easy to replace. OSS was something like 40 bucks from the dealer and the VSS was something around the that as well. For the codes, yes it is an electrical problem. But maybe you'll have more luck fixing it than i have had. my 01 250 v10 which has the same trans as you PSD has been in and out of the shop for around 6 months now. I just went back in yesterday. But i have now clue on what to tell for exactly what it might be because we have replaced a lot of inexpensive and expensive parts. Check this out.
