I'm not lurking, I'm in SD, watching Psyc right now. I used to go to the Cannery when it first opened, when I was working at Nellis AFB. Do they still have the leg lamps in there?
Good evening everyone. I ordered a Hays flexplate today & tomorrow I will order my Hughes Towing Converter On the 22nd F250 tranny goes in to be rebuilt. Is Summit Racing in trouble? I wanted to order the converter from them but they state estimated SHIPPING DATE 2/18/10. Then I checked the Hays flexplate & they again stated SHIPPING DATE 3/1/10. So I called Hughes Performance & they said they will ship Friday UPS or FedX & the price is the same as Summit. Except for us in Nevada we don't have to pay sales tax. I called Jegs tonight on the flexplate & it will be delivered on Tuesday to me. So what gives with Summit? I really don't like Summit as well as Jegs but I thought I would beable to pick them up in Reno. But when I called they told me if it had a shipping date Reno would have to order it just as I would.
Anyway, I will have everything next week.

I know what you mean Craig. I have some parts in the shopping cart on the summit site waiting for my tax check and most of the stuff has the expected ship date of feb. 18. I will have to cruise over to the Jegs site and see what they have for my Mustang.
Yea Jeff, I have order a lot of stuff from Jegs just because living in Nevada IF YOU ORDER FROM SUMMIT YOU ALSO HAVE TO ADD NEVADA STATE SALES TAX ON TOP OF THE ORDER. With Jegs you don't. There isn't a Jegs store 60 miles from me, but if you go to the Summit store in Sparks & they don't have it you have to still pay shipping to pick it up at the store. I have been to there store a few times & it is a pain in the A$$ to get anything. They run that store like they are all high class big shots. I hate going in there. One call to Jegs & the stuff arrives in a few days. I have never had Jegs tell me oh, we can't get that for two weeks. I bought manifolds, carbs, carb parts, air cleaners, Hi-pro Mopar modules, & on & on.
It wouldn't hurt my feeling to be driving down Glendale in Sparks & see a BIG going out of business sign on the Summit building. Me & most of my buddies would look at each other & say they brought it on themselves. In fact the last time I was in there, there were maybe 3 people in there on a Saturday in fall. A lot of stuff that use to be in the back was on shelves out front & not on sale & no added shelves. So go figure.

In fact the last time I went into Summit I wanted a Westin Safari Bar for our Jeep GC 5.9 Limited. They told me it would take three weeks to get it. It was like $118 by the time I had to pay shipping on not only the bar but the brakets because they were someplace different than the bar that added another $25 plus tax. So I went to Custom Truck in Reno & I asked them & they quoted me high & I said no I can get it from Summit for $118 the counter guy called over another guy the talked a second & the guy said we'll meet Summits price. I believe they went on line to check if I was correct. I asked them when they could get it they said we have the brackets in Stock & we can have the bar here in 4 days. I paid them up front $118 + tax NO SHIPPING they had my stuff when they said they would. I went in & picked it up.

Hey Jeff read my second post it is a repeat of the first with some added comments. Sorry for the double post. I'm not sure how I did that, but I did.

No problem Craig. Sounds to me like it may be time to switch loyalties. I remember back in '01 I was remodeling some apt complex in sparks and if I was not working my boss knew where to find me on my day off. At summit. At that time it was almost like I was a high roller. Anything I needed was taken care of. No extra pricing for special orders or anything like that. It was so good that even things that I could have gotten a bit cheaper at the local Checker auto I would get from summit. All I had to do was call the store up, tell them what I needed and if they did not have it in stock they would tell me when it would be in with no extra charge. In fact one day the part I needed for my D350was delayed in shipping so they gave me a 10" sub for $15.
It is such a shame that they have gone the way they have. Like I said, it sounds to me like it is time to switch loyalties
Morning Bruce. Gray and drizzly here also, but it's supposed to get cold later, and turn to freezing drizzle, then snow overnight. Add 2-4 to the white crap we already have. Super...NOT!
