As the title says, my tow/haul light has started flashing, also my factory temp gauge was spiked. I did just have some massive electrical problems fixed with the truck so I'm leaning towards it just being more corroded wires hopefully. I had the tranny rebuilt 1 year ago. Also my aftermarket gauge hadn't moved at all yet so I'm pretty certain it must be an electrical issue. Truck is an 03 6.0 of course. Anybody else encounter similar issues as mine though?
I've seen a couple of post recently regarding the tow/haul light flashing. You might try searching for this topic. Have you checked to see if there are any active transmission codes?
The TFT sensor in the trans went bad, it's a fairly easy fix for owners who have the time. 1.5 hour job, let us know what the dealer wants for the fix.
will do, I didn't take it in today, didn't think the service girl I go to was working so didn't bother. Drove it around tonight until my aftermarket gauge came up a bit so I know it is working, checked my fluids and the level is good, nice and pink and stinks like it should. I will see what they want for the fix and what the sensor alone costs. I don't mind crawling under the truck to save a few bucks but the dealer has been good to me so I might just let them do the work.
If you don't mind crawling under you will save a few hundred, the sensor will list around $80 if you want to recycle your trans oil just drain it in a clean catch. Or if you replace the oil you will need around 8 quarts. You don't need a pan gasket as yours is reusable. Taking your time as I did and also changing the motor oil/filter and lubing the front fittings takes 1 hour 20 minutes after a 2 minute test drive. If you decide to do it yourself let us know because there are a few tips that will make the job go smoother without a face full of trans oil. P.S. you don't need a internal filter.
I just had the tranny rebuilt 20k km's ago so the fluid is still all good. I might just take it to my tranny guy to get it done then. I don't really want to deal with dropping the pan. Not that I can't do it, just don't really have a lot of time right now. Packing up to move.
