I started the new project tonight. So far in a couple of hours this is what I have done. I removed the doors, radiator removed, hood removed, and wiring harnass removed. Also, since there was a plow on it. I had to remove the hydrolic pump, fluid resevoir, and a switch which I would guess moves the plow up and down. I am excited about this project because the last two were ones I could seldom drvie. The first was a 1951 F6 which I did a full restoration on and turned it into a tow truck. The second was a 1969 N600 tow truck. I did a full bottom end restoration and started the cab but someone else wanted it so I sold it to him.
I excited because this is one I will be able to drive as often as i want!
You did good. Too many times people just give a quick answer without providing the info so you can use later. Wheelbase is the same for all years I believe. The axle code could be 03, open diff, A3 would be a factory locker. The 4:11 gears are needed for the low power 170ci engine and will limit highway cruising speeds. But the combo is a good high torque setup for low speeds, around town, off road as it was intended to be. Enjoy! I hope to have my frame off 66 half cab finished by summer.
Thanks for the info. This one has a half cab top on it now. I want to turn it into a half cab so I can put some of what ever in the back. I only live 2 miles from my restaurant so I don't need to be in a hurry. I am working with DVA Dessert Valley to find a metal body. It doesn't need to be perfect just a good start. He was supposed to send me pics on Friday but never got around to it I guess. I plan on putting in 4 or 5 hours tonight and have the body ready to come off tomorrow. Again thanks for the help..more questions to follow I'm sure.
This will be the second early Bronco I have done. I did one in high school. A 69 what a great truck!
