carb problems? help

I have a 1966 EB roadster its all original. 170 cid 6 cyl. 3 on the tree, unmolested.
I was driving it last summer when it started to "chug" or "cut out" only around 3k RPMs it only did it a couple times.
I drove home to let it cool off so I could work on it. when I went out 20min later i looked things over and could not find a problem. I started it back up and now it just idles. As soon as you give it ANY gas is spits and sputters. It will Idle ALL DAY LONG just dont touch the accelerator or it will choke and chug.I have replaced..
FUEL PUMP
FUEL FILTER
DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR, CONDENSER,POINTS SET @.025
PLUGS, WIRES
COIL
REBUILT THE CARB, NEW DASHPOT,
BATTERY.
I have set the timing at 6 degrees. I have ran out of ideas please help. thanks

Check the vacuum advance canister and lines to it. That's a Load-a-Matic system I believe that works with a specific carb. Other than that I haven't worked on one of them.

vacuum advance canister

Ok your talking about the line that runs from the carb to the bottom of the distributor?
its a hard line now which is kind loose. meaning i can just grab the hard line and pull it out without unscrewing it. should I install a rubber line with new fittings?
Thanks for all the advice.

I'd say you definatly have a vacuum leak there. Never repaired one of those myself, but you do need to fix it somehow. Maybe someone else will chime in, or post in the 6 cyl. engine forum for a fix. fordsix.com is another good place for help on those distributors.

so i changed out the hard vacuum line for a rubber one. still no luck. just idle.
I pulled the cap off the distributor and blew into the hose and watched the distributor advance. I'm still at a loss? any other suggestions?

Use the good old fashioned vacuum leak detector. A can of carb cleaner. Spray at the carb base etc. If the idle changes you know you found the leak.
I just rebuilt the carb on mine. I have the carter 1v on mine and the base gaskets that are in the kit are not correct, they are too large and caused a vacuum leak. Have the correct ones coming.
