I am a new subscriber to this site and just wanted to say hi to every one. I am a big fan of the f 100. I have had three different trucks in the past (23 years ago). One of them was a big window 1956. I had the truck when I was in college and a guy made me an offer I could not refuse and sold it thinking I could get another one later. I got married and started having kids, well you know the rest of the story, I never got my truck. The last seven years I started looking for a project (56 big window) it has been a hard long process. I am happy to say finally I found my big window (restored) and it is being shipped today from California. I haven't slepted in three days because I am so excited.
My question is how many big windows were made in 1956? Everybody I have talked to has come up with a wide range of different numbers or did not know. Thanks for you input and look forward to reading all this great info in this forum!

Welcome to the site. I've got a big window 56 F-250 in half-restored condition (saving more money to continue). I'd be curious about the production numbers as well.
Though it pains me slightly to hear that YET ANOTHER F-100 is escaping CA, the pain is relieved knowing that it is going to a good home! Congratulations on locating and obtaining your '56 Big Window at long last. Perserverance pays off!!! Let us know when it arrives, and if you're so-inclined and have the capability, please create a gallery so we can "ooh-and-aah" all over it!
I can imagine the sense of satisfaction you will have once it arrives and you FINALLY get to lay your own eyes on it and then drive it. Man, that's gonna feel great for ya!
Well, enjoy the heck out of it... Congrats once again... and welcome to FTE
Thanks for the replies.
Here is the update I recieived my truck from CA lsat week. Everything went well. It looks great. A lot of little details left to do. The truck sits to low for me but it looks good. I will look into new springs for the front to gain an inch or two. The front bumper sits 4 1/2" of the ground right now. I will try and post some pictures. First I have to learn how everything works on this site. Thanks again!
I GOT MY TRUCK, LIFE IS GOOD!
