Guages died

Guages died
While driving, all the guages died for 2 seconds. Then they came back up and cycled and read fine except the airbag light stayed on. The illumination did not stop and the engine did not die. The airbag light went away later, once I restarted the engine.
This is the second time it has occurred.
Has anyone else had this problem?

How old is you battery is it original if so may be going bad causing strange stuff to happen to electrical stuff.
battery seems to be the problem moat of the time they just go without warning.
something to check.

I am going to change out the alternator. The truck has always made a strange noise when cold (10F) and many have concluded that it is the alt bearing. It has gotten worse as it makes the noise at higher temp (30F).

The battery tested out fine.
I replaced the alternator. Only time will tell if the guage dieing problem is gone but the cold weather "whistle" is finally gone. If it were not for this forum, I never would have guessed that it was the alt causing that annoying cold weather noise.
