I have a 91 7.3 that woud not start 1st start of the day. I replased the return lines it starts right up for 1-2 sec. then stalls out then I have to crank it 4-5 10-15 second burst. ones it starts it runs fine and will start fine. I'm wondering if I did not get all the air out of the injector lines. fuel pump not holing pressure/ back flow. fuel filter leaking.
You still have an air intrusion problem, The system bleeds itself withen a minute or two.
If you got all your caps on and did not crack one or cut a oring, another common place is the fuel heater on the top of the filter header, usually wet around this if it is leaking.
The valve core in the schrader valve on the filter header is a fairly common leak.
Not so common is the fuel pump itself and the line from the filter to the IP.

by caps do you mean the return line cap that gos around the injector. I'll check the fuel heater I have not seen fuel on the manifold. where can I get a replacement o ring for the water separator valve I think that may be one problem.
By water seperator are you fuel heater on the top of the filter or the waterseoerator itself on the bottom of the filter. If it is the one on the bottom there is a replacement filter that does away with it.
Thanks Starmilt it is that one with the water separator on the bottom. Where can i get the replacement that does away with the separator? I think that is were it is leaking fuel.
